Hand-to-hand is an education program designed to foster learning,
healing and empowerment among parents and families of children with
emotional / mental / neurobiological disorders.
Hand-to-hand consists of a series of 9 weekly classes and has been
developed and is taught by family members, who are a part of NAMI.
The course offers much information, including facts about illnesses
of the brain and their treatment. In addition, you will learn about
coping skills and receive guidance on locating appropriate support
and services within the community and obtaining better mental health
services.

Family-to-Family is a free 12-week course for family and friends
of individuals with serious mental illness. The course is taught
by trained NAMI family members.
You will learn about illnesses of the brain and their treatment,
including current information about schizophrenia, major depression,
bipolar disorder (manic depression), panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive
disorder, borderline personality disorder, and co-occurring brain
disorders and addictive disorders.
In addition, you will learn about coping skills and receive guidance
on locating appropriate support and services within the community
and obtaining better mental health services.
There is somewhere to turn. If you are interested in attending
NAMI's Family-to-Family program, please contact 937-472-6034. There
are NO FEES for the classes.

of a recent scientific evaluation of the effectiveness of NAMI's
Family-to-Family Education Program showed that course participants
gained a greater understanding of mental illness, coped much better,
worried less, and felt newly empowered to advocate for better treatment
and services for their relative. Many family members describe the
impact of taking this course as life changing."
Family Support Group
The Family Support Group is for the family members of individuals
with serious mental illness. These meetings are free and open to
the public. Take advantage of the experience and support of others
coping with the same issues and stresses that you are experiencing.
The Family Support Group meets at 6:30 p.m. on the 4th Tuesday of
each month at the Preble County Senior Center -- 800 E. St. Clair
St. -- Eaton, OH 45320 -- Library Room.
